Jean Bauman serves as President of Bauman Media Group based in Longwood, Florida. Previous to the formation of Bauman Media Group, Bauman provided consulting and production services as an independent producer to the White House, NBC Newschannel, and Food Network. She also served in two U.S. Presidential campaigns, as a Director of Press Advance and Press Advance Coordinator
In 1989, Jean married Bill Bauman and moved to Sacramento, California, where she worked as an independent producer for KCRA Television News. She produced several award winning specials. Including an Emmy award series and documentary on the changes in Eastern Europe after the fall of communism. In 1990, Bauman joined the Kelly News and Entertainment weekly news magazine programs “The West” and “InAmerica”.
Bauman continues to produce quality projects that interest her, including a recent “Healthy Homes” video for the Center for Disease Control (CDC). She has produced many videos for non-profit fundraising and capital campaigns.
Bauman has served on several boards including the Second Harvest Food Bank of
Central Florida and the Hope CommUnity Center in Apopka, Florida. She was a past President of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary in Orlando. A “cradle Catholic”, Bauman is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Apopka, Florida. Bauman and her husband Bill enjoy golf and travel to Scotland annually. This year, Jean is the reigning Women’s Club Champion of the Crail Golfing Society in the Kingdom of Fife, Crail, Scotland. The first American since 1786!
Bill Bauman is a consulting partner of Bauman Media Group, LLC. He served as
President and General Manager of WESH-TV, the NBC affiliate of Central Florida from
June, 1997 through December, 2007.
In September 2006, Bauman was also named President and General Manager of WKCF,
Central Florida’s CW affiliate. WESH and WKCF are both owned by Hearst-Argyle
Television, Inc., one of this country’s largest broadcast groups with 29 television stations.
Bauman began his career in Orlando, first in radio news, and then moving into
television, serving as a general assignment reporter and later as an investigative
reporter. He moved into television news management in 1980, and served as News
Director of WESH from 1984 to 1986.
Between assignments at WESH, Bauman was News Director of KCRA in Sacramento
from 1988 to 1997. During his tenure, KCRA was one of the highest rated local
news stations in the country. Under his direction, KCRA was honored with a
national Edward R. Murrow award for overall excellence in 1992. KCRA was
also awarded a California Emmy for continuous coverage of the Northern
California floods of 1997. Since he joined WESH, the station was honored with
the 2003 Alfred I DuPont/Columbia University journalism award for coverage
of the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy. In 2004 WESH won a National Peabody
award for an investigative project called “Building Homes: Building Problems.”
Bauman is a past Chairman of the Florida Association of Broadcasters,
and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Workforce Central Florida.
Jean and Bill Bauman are accomplished media professionals. They are award winning managers, producers and writers.
